Joi’s description of how Teamspeak influenced his perception changed the way I thought about emerging communication. After several small attempts to recreate the experience over the past year, I still have yet to experience the full immersion of this form of aural shared consciousness.
When I talk to people about Twitter that still question what it is, let alone what it does, I have an overwhelming urge to focus on the hive aspect of the community. I agree that the voices of those individuals talking about their breakfast are disruptive – but the longer you listen to the stream, the quicker they fall into the shadows.
It’s less about the 140 characters, than it is about the 44 million people – each an active part of a live 24/7 experience.
With so much attention on Twitter Strategies for small business, growing followers, getting your voice heard, and measuring impact, I think we can sometimes lose track of how truly remarkable this form of communication is. I know I do.
